The Platinum Block at Tata Memorial Hospital represents a significant expansion of one of India’s foremost cancer care institutions. Conceived as a state-of-the-art healthcare facility, the project has been designed to accommodate advanced clinical services, specialised treatment areas and supporting infrastructure required for a high-performance tertiary care hospital.
Recognising the strategic importance of the development, Tata Memorial Centre appointed Shashi Prabhu and Associates (SPA) to undertake an independent Architectural and Engineering Peer Review of the design prepared by the primary consultant. SPA’s role was to provide an objective technical assessment of the proposed design, giving the client confidence that the project met the highest standards of functionality, safety, engineering coordination and regulatory compliance. The review involved a comprehensive evaluation of architectural planning, structural and MEP coordination, circulation systems, patient and service workflows, code compliance, constructability and long-term operational efficiency. Through detailed technical scrutiny and multidisciplinary analysis, SPA identified opportunities to strengthen the design, improve coordination between building systems and minimise potential risks during construction and future operations. The assignment demonstrates SPA’s expertise as an independent technical advisor for complex healthcare infrastructure projects. Beyond reviewing drawings, the firm’s multidisciplinary team provided the client with a robust technical validation of the overall design, ensuring that critical healthcare planning principles and engineering standards had been appropriately addressed. By delivering an impartial and comprehensive peer review, SPA helped reinforce the client’s confidence in the project’s readiness for execution while contributing to the successful delivery of a world-class cancer care facility
