Willingdon sports club
In the congested metropolitan of Mumbai, it is difficult to locate even a tiny open space, and yet on this sprawling 53 acres of gorgeous, lush green, well-manicured open land, located in the heart of South Mumbai is Willingdon Sports Club.
It is one of India's premier and oldest private club houses and is nestled over 53 acres of prime land in South Mumbai. The club also hosts the only 18-hole golf courses in South Mumbai.
In 2007, Shashi Prabhu & Associates was invited to renovate just three existing badminton courts at the Willingdon Club. What started as a simple reconstruction of these badminton courts, extended into one of the most complex and prestigious master plan and architectural expansion projects for Shashi Prabhu & Associates.
This master plan has defined a clear path for the expansion activities of the club. The expansion includes construction of 4 new badminton courts, 6 glass squash courts, an underground parking for 400 cars, a new club house, a health club, spa and indoor pool, a new golf clubhouse.
